Do you have a question about your privacy or would you like to exercise one of your rights? Email privacy@hero.eu. We will respond within 30 days.

When you apply, we use your contact details, CV, motivation and, where applicable, your LinkedIn profile to assess your application and get in touch with you. Without your consent, we keep this data for up to four weeks after the application procedure ends. Do you give consent to keep your data longer? Then we also use it to approach you for future vacancies.

For your interim profile, we use the details you fill in to match you with suitable interim assignments. Think of your contact details, availability, hourly rate, the roles you are open to and, where applicable, your CV. You can change these details at any time via My account. No longer want to be in our talent pool? Then switch off the registration via My account and we will withdraw it.

To manage your account and keep the website running properly, we use your name, email address and preferences. Do you log in with LinkedIn? Then we also use your LinkedIn profile and profile photo.

When you upload your LinkedIn profile, we use the details you share to give you a more personal experience and match you with suitable jobs and interim assignments. You can delete this data at any time via My account.

When you use the chat, we process your chat messages. If you give consent for this, we also use data from your profile, CV or LinkedIn profile to help you in a more personal way.

If you turn on Hero memory in My account, Hero creates a short profile of you from your CV and your LinkedIn profile, for example your role, your areas of expertise and your education, and the chat uses it in your conversations. In My account you can see exactly what it contains. If you turn it off, we erase it immediately. We do not include sensitive data, such as your date of birth, your address or your health.

To answer your question we use AI. The data you share with us may be processed outside the European Union for this purpose. We ensure appropriate security measures in line with European privacy law. Your data is not used to train AI models.

We use your name, email address, your question and, if you provide it, your phone number to deliver your question to the right Hero team or the right recruiter. We usually respond by email, but we may also call you if we have your phone number. We keep your question securely for up to 12 months, so that we can handle your request properly and retrieve it if needed.

Hero uses essential cookies to keep the website running properly. With your permission, we also use cookies for statistics and for advertising. To find out how to change this, see ’How do I adjust my cookie preferences?’.

The cookies we place fall into four categories:

When you open an assignment or vacancy, we also place a test cookie (hero_gate_variant, 180 days) that remembers which of two versions of the login screen you see, so we can compare those versions. It only contains the letter a or b and says nothing about who you are; no consent is needed for it.

We record every cookie choice as proof: which choice you made, when, in which language, with which version of the cookie text and how you chose (in the cookie notice, in Cookie preferences or via your account). The only identifier we use is the random code of your browser; we do not record your name, email address or IP address with it. We do this on the basis of a legal obligation: we must be able to demonstrate that you gave your consent (GDPR, Article 7(1)). After two years, we delete this proof automatically. If you are logged in, your most recent choice is also stored in your account; we delete it together with your account.

If you consent to statistics cookies, we measure pseudonymously how the website is used: which pages you visit, what you click on, and whether you start or complete an application or response. We use this information to improve the website, our vacancies and the user experience. We store this data for a maximum of 14 months.

In addition, we keep an anonymous count of how many applications, responses and contact requests are completed in total. For this we use no cookies and record nothing about who you are; it is purely about numbers that help us improve our service.

With your consent, Hero can see which organisation visits our website. This gives us a better understanding of the interest of business visitors. We only keep the company name and anonymised visit data, for up to 12 months. We do not store IP addresses.

In addition, we use Lusha for this purpose. Lusha, too, works at company level: we see which organisation visits our website, not who you are. Only with your consent does our website send the following data to Lusha: your IP address, a random visitor code, the pages you visit and the page from which you came to our website. Lusha stores that code in a cookie and in your browser’s local storage, for up to 30 days after your last visit. If you withdraw your consent, the measurement stops and we delete that code. You can read how Lusha handles data in Lusha’s privacy notice.

If you also consent to advertising, the LinkedIn Insight Tag shows us which organisations visit our website as well, never who you are (see below).

Google may then link your visit to hero.eu to your Google account, if you are signed in there and have allowed personalised advertising in your Google account. Hero uses this for two things: we can show you Hero ads on Google and on other websites, and we can see whether an ad leads to a contact request or an application. We never see who you are; Google does not share names or email addresses with us.

When you submit a form, we may pass your email address to Google in encrypted form, so Google can better match a conversion to an ad click. Google cannot reverse that encrypted value back to your email address and does not store it.

You can turn this off via Cookie preferences at the bottom of the page. You can also turn off personalised advertising in your own Google account.

We also use the LinkedIn Insight Tag, a measurement script from LinkedIn. It lets us tailor our ads on LinkedIn to people who visited hero.eu, measure whether an ad on LinkedIn leads to a contact request or an application, and see which organisations visit our website. The tag only loads if you consent to advertising in the cookie notice. LinkedIn then places cookies and stores a random visitor code in your browser’s local storage, and our website sends LinkedIn data about your visit: your IP address, the pages you visit and what you click on, the page you came from and details about your browser. If you have a LinkedIn account, LinkedIn can link your visit to it. We never see who you are: LinkedIn only gives us reports in which you cannot be identified. LinkedIn removes the data that directly identifies you within seven days and deletes the rest within 180 days. You can read how long LinkedIn’s cookies remain in LinkedIn’s cookie table; the visitor code remains until you withdraw your consent or clear your browser data. You can read how LinkedIn handles data in LinkedIn’s privacy policy. You can withdraw your consent at any time via Cookie preferences at the bottom of the page. In your LinkedIn account, you can decide for yourself whether LinkedIn uses your data for advertising.

We only process your data when there is a legal basis for it:

• Performance of a contract or steps at your request: processing your application, your interim registration and managing your account.
• Consent: personalised cookies, uploading your LinkedIn profile and using your profile data to personalise the chat. You can withdraw your consent at any time.
• Legitimate interest: answering your questions, securing and improving our website and measuring results anonymously.
• Legal obligation: when laws or regulations require us to retain or share data.

Hero never sells your personal data to third parties. To carry out our services, we engage carefully selected parties:

• (prospective) clients: when you apply or register as an interim professional, we may share your details with clients that have a matching vacancy or assignment;
• our recruitment system, in which we process applications and registrations;
• providers of our website, database and file storage;
• Google, for Google Analytics and Google Ads: only with your consent does Google receive a random visitor code, the pages you visit, your clicks and, for advertising cookies, the link to your Google account. Google also processes data outside the European Economic Area, under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework;
• Twilio SendGrid, our email service for confirmation and notification emails, certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework;
• Anthropic, the provider of our AI: your chat messages and, when you share them, CV and LinkedIn texts are processed to generate responses and matches. Anthropic does not train AI models on this data. The European Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) apply as a safeguard;
• Lusha, for recognising business visitors: only with your consent does Lusha receive your IP address, a random visitor code, the pages you visit and the page from which you came to our website;
• LinkedIn, if you choose to sign in with LinkedIn, and for the LinkedIn Insight Tag: only with your consent to advertising cookies does LinkedIn receive your IP address, a random visitor code, the pages you visit and what you click on, the page you came from and details about your browser.

Some of these parties process data outside the European Economic Area. For that transfer we use the legal safeguards required by the GDPR, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision. You can request a copy of the safeguards used via privacy@hero.eu.

No. We use AI to look for vacancies and assignments that match your profile or CV and to answer your questions, but these are tools. A recruiter always assesses a match themselves before we contact you. We do not make decisions with legal effect that come about fully automatically.

You have the right to view your data, to correct it, to have it erased or to have its processing restricted. You can also object to a processing activity, have your data transferred and withdraw consent you gave earlier.

Much of this you can arrange yourself via My account.

Yes. We may adjust this privacy statement if our services, the law or the way we process personal data changes. The most current version is always on this page.

At the bottom of every page is the Cookie preferences link. There you switch statistics and advertising on or off independently. If you withdraw your consent, we stop measuring and delete the cookies and local storage for that category on hero.eu. If you switch off advertising, the page reloads to complete this. We cannot delete cookies that Google or LinkedIn have set on their own domain; they expire on their own. What has already been measured stays, pseudonymously, within the retention period.

If you are logged in, we also store your choice in your account. If you later log in on another device or browser, we use that choice there too. If you change your choice while logged in, the new choice applies everywhere.
