How does Hero handle my application data?
When you apply, we use your contact details, CV, motivation and, where applicable, your LinkedIn profile to assess your application and get in touch with you. Without your consent, we keep this data for up to four weeks after the application procedure ends. Do you give consent to keep your data longer? Then we also use it to approach you for future vacancies.
How does Hero handle my interim professional profile?
For your interim profile, we use the details you fill in to match you with suitable interim assignments. Think of your contact details, availability, hourly rate, the roles you are open to and, where applicable, your CV. You can change these details at any time via My account. No longer want to be in our talent pool? Then switch off the registration via My account and we will withdraw it.
What account information does Hero store?
To manage your account and keep the website running properly, we use your name, email address and preferences. Do you log in with LinkedIn? Then we also use your LinkedIn profile and profile photo.
What happens when I upload my LinkedIn profile?
When you upload your LinkedIn profile, we use the details you share to give you a more personal experience and match you with suitable jobs and interim assignments. You can delete this data at any time via My account.
What happens when I use the chat?
When you use the chat, we process your chat messages. If you give consent for this, we also use data from your profile, CV or LinkedIn profile to help you in a more personal way. To help you better in a following conversation, the chat can remember key points from earlier conversations. You can erase this memory at any time via My account.
To answer your question we use AI. The data you share with us may be processed outside the European Union for this purpose. We ensure appropriate security measures in line with European privacy law. Your data is not used to train AI models.
What happens when I send Hero a question via chat or the contact form?
We use your name, email address, your question and, if you provide it, your phone number to deliver your question to the right Hero team or the right recruiter. We usually respond by email, but we may also call you if we have your phone number. We keep your question securely for up to 12 months, so that we can handle your request properly and retrieve it if needed.
Which cookies does Hero use?
Hero uses necessary cookies to make the website work properly. With your consent, we also use personalised cookies to improve the website and your experience. You can read how to adjust these under 'How do I change my cookie preferences?'.
The cookies we place fall into three categories:
| Type of cookie | Purpose | Retention |
|---|---|---|
| Session and login cookies (necessary) | To sign you in and make the website work | Session up to 1 year |
| Preference cookies (necessary) | Remember your language choice and cookie preference | Up to 1 year |
| Personalised cookies (only with consent) | Measure pseudonymously how the website is used | 30 minutes to 180 days |
What does Hero measure about website usage?
If you give consent for personalised cookies, we measure pseudonymously how the website is used: which pages you visit, where you click and whether you start or complete an application or response. We use this information to improve the website, vacancies and the user experience. We keep this data for up to 12 months.
In addition, we keep an anonymous count of how many applications, responses and contact requests are completed in total. For this we use no cookies and record nothing about who you are; it is purely about numbers that help us improve our service.
Why does Hero recognise business visitors?
With your consent, Hero can see which organisation visits our website. This gives us a better understanding of the interest of business visitors. We only keep the company name and anonymised visit data, for up to 12 months. We do not store IP addresses.
On what legal basis does Hero process my data?
We only process your data when there is a legal basis for it:
- Performance of a contract or steps at your request: processing your application, your interim registration and managing your account.
- Consent: personalised cookies, uploading your LinkedIn profile and using your profile data to personalise the chat. You can withdraw your consent at any time.
- Legitimate interest: answering your questions, securing and improving our website and measuring results anonymously.
- Legal obligation: when laws or regulations require us to retain or share data.

With whom does Hero share my personal data?
Hero never sells your personal data to third parties. To carry out our services, we engage carefully selected parties:
- (prospective) clients: when you apply or register as an interim professional, we may share your details with clients who have a matching vacancy or assignment;
- our recruitment system, in which we process applications and registrations;
- providers of our website, database and file storage;
- Twilio SendGrid (United States), our email service for confirmation and notification emails. Twilio is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework;
- Anthropic (United States), the provider of our AI: your chat messages and, if you choose to share them, CV and LinkedIn texts are processed to generate responses and matches. Anthropic does not train AI models on this data. The European Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) apply as a safeguard;
- LinkedIn, if you choose to log in with LinkedIn.
Some of these parties process data outside the European Economic Area. For that transfer we use the legal safeguards required by the GDPR, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision. You can request a copy of the safeguards used via privacy@hero.eu.
Does Hero make fully automated decisions about me?
No. We use AI to look for vacancies and assignments that match your profile or CV and to answer your questions, but these are tools. A recruiter always assesses a match themselves before we contact you. We do not make decisions with legal effect that come about fully automatically.
What are my rights?
You have the right to view your data, to correct it, to have it erased or to have its processing restricted. You can also object to a processing activity, have your data transferred and withdraw consent you gave earlier.
Much of this you can arrange yourself via My account.
Do you have another privacy request? Email privacy@hero.eu. We will respond within 30 days.
Not satisfied? Then you can file a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority.
Can this privacy statement change?
Yes. We may adjust this privacy statement if our services, the law or the way we process personal data changes. The most current version is always on this page.
How do I update my cookie preferences?
Here you decide which cookies Hero is allowed to use.
