Ambition and quality come together in academy

Biggest dreams call for a grand approach

If you know Hero, you know that we never lack #ambition. We like to dream big, set the bar high and enjoy challenging each other (work-wise). Everything to move forward and keep development going. To continue to offer clients and candidates services of the highest quality, that is our ultimate goal! For this reason, we opened the doors of our own academy earlier this year....

The Hero Academy - that's what we call our training centre - is a physical training centre combined with an online learning environment. From Wognum we organise a variety of (classroom) training and coaching sessions, and the online learning environment supports this. Among other things, with interactive, Hero-specific content that links up with practical situations. The online environment can also be used to follow various learning paths, and part of the pre- and onboarding process of new colleagues also takes place here.

The learning management system (LMS) allows us to monitor progress and issue certificates to participants. And since we also update and test knowledge in the interim, certificates must be obtained (again) every year. This not only safeguards the knowledge available, but also the distinctive way in which we serve clients and candidates.

Example of curriculum developed; The Recruitment Traineeship

A good example of a course that has already been developed is the Hero Recruitment Traineeship; an intensive and varied 3-month programme in which trainees go through various phases, obtain (partial) certificates and deal with KPIs. There are many role plays, situations are analysed and of course there is a lot of knowledge sharing. In short: a structured and substantive programme which not only allows the trainee to quickly master the profession of recruiter, but also to the Hero way of working.

Since the launch of our Traineeship in March this year, >10 participants have already successfully completed the programme. They have since moved into our organisation and continue to be coached and trained within their teams (in Alkmaar and Hoorn) by experienced colleagues. After all, development does not stop after the Traineeship.


The Hero way of working

That we also want to continue making strides with the academy is surely no surprise. Having developed the first course, we are already busy developing new programmes. The goal is to eventually develop a programme for all common positions at Hero so that everyone can benefit from their own academy and achieve personal development.
Based on the developed job house and a skills matrix, clear career paths and learning lines are defined. In addition to professional knowledge, these programmes also involve the Hero way of working play a vital role.
